What We Do
Why might you need a financial planner?
We can empower you with our knowledge to help you make informed decisions about your financial future. By creating a financial plan to meet your goals, we can save you time and money.
Most people lives are busy and complex. We have found taking time out to work with a Financial Planner can lead to improved financial outcomes.
Client Journey
Our role as financial planners is to assist you by removing financial anxiety and promoting good financial behaviour. This cannot be started until we fully understand you.
At this first stage we gather information about your financial circumstances, background to your life and family situation. We like to meet you in person at either our offices or your home, as this will give the opportunity to get to know each other better.
This initial meeting is at our expensive and should we mutually decide to work together, we can discuss the next steps and what charging structure may suit you best.
If you decide to work with us, this step is to define your goals. We find that all clients have multiple goals and objectives, by defining them, we can help prioritise for short, medium and long term planning.
A detailed investment risk questionnaire will be completed using an award-winning psychometric risk profiling tool, to establish your level of investment risk and capacity for losses.
With your goals, objectives and risk profile in place, your personalised financial plan can be built with them as a cornerstone.
Now that we have an understanding of the situation, we spend time analysing the information received from our previous steps and begin researching the many avenues of financial solutions.
The goals, objectives and risk level are always at the forefront and is given great consideration to building your personalised financial strategy and plan.
The next step – Developing your financial plan.
The strategies agreed will form the basis of the plan along with the risk you are prepared to take.
Assessing whether available assets meet your goals and objectives.
A further meeting will take place at this step to present the financial plan and discuss in detail, making sure the recommendations are clearly understood.
The next step – Implementation.
Once the strategy and plan has been agreed, we will take control of the administration putting the financial plan into place.
Making the necessary arrangements for processing new accounts, setting up new investments or the transfer of funds.
Our clients are kept up to date and informed during this process.
The next step – Annual review.
We meet with our clients at least once a year to discuss whether there have been any changes in circumstances such as income and expenditure, goals and objectives or the clients risk level.
We evaluate the financial plan on the returns for the previous year and assess whether they remain suitable. Action will be taken at this stage if changes are required to take place on the client’s financial strategy and plan.
What We Do
We give independent financial advice to individuals, trustees and companies. Being independent, we can advise without bias on any financial products should they be needed within your financial plan.

At the heart of our process, is the attention we give to investment risk. These means ascertaining a comprehensive understanding of your financial ability to suffer losses combined with your psychological attitude to taking financial risks. We also consider your investment experience, time horizons and investment objectives.

Retirement Planning
When can I afford to retire?
One of the most common questions we are asked at Surrey Wealth, is, “When can I afford to retire?” With the decline of final salary occupational pension schemes and the flat rate state pension, the onus is now on the individual to save for their own retirement. We have seen pension legislation transform many times since Pension Simplification in March 2006, with each change bringing more complex consequences.
For those at the point of retirement, the myriad of choices available for taking retirement benefits can seem overwhelming. We aim to take the stress out of this process by providing our clients with all the information they require to make informed decisions for their retirement finances.
For individuals planning retirement we can stress test their current plans and develop new strategies if needed. This can be cyclical process, redesigned for changes in individual circumstances, taxation and legislation.
Investment Philosophy
At Surrey Wealth we like to keep things simple and investment charges low.
We make sure that you fully understand any investment before recommending to you.
We believe that the markets are efficient and hard to beat over the long term, as such we include index linked or passive investments, for a proportion of our portfolios. Consideration is also given to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues relating to investing and include your preferences when constructing a portfolio.
All clients complete an attitude to investment risk questionnaire, where we assess your risk profile and capacity for loss. Once your objectives have been agreed, we then recommend and manage an investment portfolio within your risk tolerance.
The value of your investment can go down as well as up and you may get back less than the amount invested.
Estate Planning
When we discuss Estate planning it involves how to pass on your assets to the next generation in the most efficient way. A significant part of this will usually be minimising Inheritance Tax. This could be achieved by using allowances, making gifts, setting up trusts or simply spending your money.
Early financial planning is essential to ensure that you can pass on as much money as possible to your loved ones when you die whilst enjoying life now and ensuring that you have enough money to live on. Cash-flow modelling is becoming an increasingly key element of our advice process and key to creating an estate plan.
We know that this can be a complex and emotional area of planning, so we aim to work with you to mitigate this.
The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate taxation and trust advice.
Trustee Services
At Surrey Wealth, we fully understand the responsibilities that trustees have, including their specific their duty of care when it comes to investments.
We create lifetime solutions for each trust, whether newly established or existing, by understanding the aims and objectives. Any income and capital payments to the beneficiaries can then be delivered in the most tax-efficient way.
We provide a full review service for existing trusts, to establish to the suitability of the investments and the respective financial plan, in relation to the perpetuity of the trust.
